We live in a world where bad news is common, tragedies abound, and sorrow is abundant—but please allow me to share with you some good news. In fact, this is the best news of all time.
First, I must explain some bad news:
In the beginning of time, God created the heaven and the earth. He created a paradise called the garden of Eden. In this paradise, He created and placed the first man and woman, Adam and Eve. God told them that they could eat of all the trees of the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil or else they would die. But Satan, a spiritual being, appeared to them in the form of a serpent, and deceived and seduced them into eating of the tree. Adam and Eve realized they were naked after eating the forbidden fruit, and they tried to cover themselves with aprons sown from fig leaves and then tried to hide from God. But God came and confronted Adam and Eve and cursed the earth because of their sin. Because of their disobedience, sin entered the world. Whenever we disobey God, it is called sin.
When sin entered the world, it brought pain and sorrow; this is where evil comes from. Not only did it bring pain and sorrow, but Adam and Eve’s sin had corrupted mankind’s heart and nature.
Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
Romans 5:19 “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners.”
1 Corinthians 15:21-22 “For since by man came death … For as in Adam all die.”
Because of sin, mankind’s heart—including mine and yours—is now wicked and totally depraved.
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
It is because our hearts are wicked that we choose to sin. This is why we do things like lie, steal, cheat, gossip, manipulate others, and do other things that God says are wrong. For example, God said do not commit adultery (sex with another person’s spouse), but God also said that if you look on a woman and lust after her that you commit adultery in your heart. God said not to murder, but God also said that if you have hatred in your heart for anyone that you have already committed murder in your heart. God says not to lie, but how many lies have you told in your whole life? How many times have you stolen something? These are only a very small handful of common sins many people commit. The problem with you and I is that we have wicked and sinful hearts.
1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
The sin that we commit has a penalty or punishment. The Bible tells us of a place called the lake of fire, that burns forever, and we are told that it is a place of torment where those who die in their sin will go to spend eternity.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Luke 16:19-26 “There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.”
Revelation 20:11-15 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Now for the good news:
After Adam and Eve sinned, God promised a redeemer that would come and take away their sin. In the garden, after Adam and Eve sinned, God killed an animal and covered their nakedness with the skins of the animal.
2,000 years ago, a virgin named Mary gave birth to a son. This was no ordinary child—His father was God.
Matthew 1:20-21 “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.”
Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This same Jesus was born without a corrupted sin nature, because God was His father. This same Jesus Christ was the redeemer God had promised in the garden of Eden. This same Jesus went around doing miracles: healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, making the crippled walk again, and even raising people from the dead. However, those to whom Jesus was sent rejected Him because He claimed to be God. Jesus was mocked, spit upon, beaten, whipped, and eventually nailed to a wooden cross where multitudes of people watched Him die.
Why did God let this happen? Why would God let His Son be crucified? These verses give us the answer:
John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Jesus Christ was just like the animal God killed in the garden to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness. On the cross, Jesus Christ had all of OUR sins placed upon Him. He died so that He could take away your sin, and so that you could be made righteous, and so that you would not have to go to that place of torment for your sins when you die. In the Old Testament, God commanded the Jews to offer animal sacrifices to atone for their sins. God did this to foreshadow the true Lamb of God: Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 53:3-7 “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to His own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.”
Note that Isaiah wrote these words around 700 years before Christ was even born!
After Jesus died, they buried Him, but three days later He rose from the dead! Jesus Christ then ascended up to heaven where He waits now. One day, He’s coming back again to rule and reign as King over the whole earth. Those who have received Him as their Savior and have placed their trust in Him, will be resurrected and reign with Him!
The good news is this: Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again, and He’s coming back some day. To receive Him as your Savior, you must ask God to forgive you of your sins and turn from all other gods and religion and place your faith in Christ ONLY!
John 1:12 “But as many as received Him [Jesus] to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name”
Acts 16:30-31 “What must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved”
John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me [Jesus] hath everlasting life.”
Allow me to explain the word believe. The word believe, as it’s commonly used today, means to acknowledge something as true. For example, if I say I believe in God, I am saying I believe God does in fact exist. The Bible uses the word believe in a slightly different way. To believe or have faith means to DEPEND UPON or to TRUST IN. Here’s an example: suppose you did not have car and went to work. You normally take the bus home when you get off work, so you go and wait at the bus stop. You believe in the bus to come to the stop and take you home. You have faith in the bus. This is what it means to have faith in Jesus. Believing in Jesus is more than believing intellectual facts about Christ. It’s about receiving Him as your Savior and entering a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:1 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved...For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
What is keeping you from coming to Jesus? No sin is worth dying and going to hell for. Repent and turn from whatever is keeping you from surrendering to Jesus and receiving Him as your Savior!
Mark 9:43 “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched”
Please ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior today. I ask that you please read this tract over again one more time before you put it down. Your eternal destiny depends upon what you do with this message.
Don’t wait another single second. Turn to Jesus NOW!
