I may call you “Brother” in the general sense of the word just because we share the love of motorcycles, but I believe only a patch holder understands the deeper meaning of the word. It is hard to compare anything to the Brotherhood found in a MC, but I do know someone who is closer than a Brother.
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.— Proverbs 18:24
A patch holder understands brotherhood because he shares the same patch his Brothers had to earn. It took them all sacrifice, loyalty, dedication, and respect to get the patch they wear. They become family. I know someone who sacrificed all for me so I could be one of His family—a part of His Brotherhood.
Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.— John 1:12
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.— 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
We call the period of earning the patch prospecting. Brother, no one can “prospect” their way into Heaven. No amount of effort on your part will ever give you the right to join the Brotherhood of Christ and be able to enter Heaven’s gate. Our good works cannot take away our sins, and sin can not be allowed into Heaven.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.— Ephesians 2:8
Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.— Galatians 2:16
A good Brother is willing to do whatever it takes to protect another Brother or protect the good of the club. He lives for the club. Jesus came to give His life to save ours. He died and lives again for us.
Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.— Matthew 20:28
Brother, if you want to spend eternity in Heaven with the One who gave His life for you, you need to repent and believe.
“The time has come,” He said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”— Mark 1:15
If you are truly sorry for sinning against God and being responsible for the death of His Son, you can ask Him to forgive you and He will!
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.— Romans 10:9-10
If you have just asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and become your Lord and Savior, you have just entered into the Brotherhood of Christ. This Brotherhood is never-ending.
That everyone who believes may have eternal life in Him.— John 3:15
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand.— John 10:28
Now that you belong to Christ’s Brotherhood, you need to join a good Bible believing church, get baptized, read your Bible, pray every day, and tell others how you found eternal Brotherhood!
