The Bible tells us: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” And “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3,5).
The Bible shows us that we have all been born with an earthy or fleshly nature and must be spiritually born again to see or to enter GOD’s Kingdom. This spiritual birth cannot be achieved through our good works, worldly enlightenment, or religious wisdom; it can only be accomplished by GOD.
And although some say there are many ways to GOD, GOD says that there is only one way, and that way is through His Son. Only those who are “born again” by His Holy Spirit may enter relationship with Him.
Our Condition
We have all received our nature from the first man, Adam, who was created in the Image and Likeness of GOD. Faced with temptation, he chose to disobey and fell from that place of Holiness with GOD. He died spiritually as a consequence of that sin. Like a light bulb that has gone out, he was no longer illuminated by GOD’s Spirit—and no longer that perfect image of GOD on the earth. Likewise, we have been born into Adam’s fallen spiritual condition, under sin and void of God’s Spirit.
All people have been given a conscience by GOD and He has written His just laws upon our hearts. At the same time, we are also subject to the Lust of our Eyes, the Lust of our Flesh, and the Pride in our being (1 John 2:16). These things compete for dominance in our lives. Do we listen to our conscience, or do we give in to the fleshly desires of our being? We fail in many areas, and most of us find that we continually struggle to do what is right. This should cause us to cry out; “Oh GOD help me.”
GOD does not desire for any to perish and has sent a deliverer, a Savior, to rescue mankind from this natural state. Our Savior’s name is Emmanuel, meaning “GOD with us.” He is Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD and He is “The Way” for us to be placed into right standing with GOD.
Our Promised Deliverer
Jesus did not inherit an earthy nature like us, because He was not of Adam, but was conceived of GOD in the womb of Mary. Jesus the Promised Savior has His Father’s Divine Nature, which is Perfect and Holy. He was sent by GOD to redeem us, to rescue us from the bondage and slavery of sin. All unrighteous acts are sin and what we earn from sin is death.
The Bible tells us that only the blood of a perfect sacrifice can wash away the stain of sin. Jesus Christ is that perfect sacrifice; through Him is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins. We deserve GOD’s judgment and are all condemned as criminals, having broken GOD’s laws.
But, Jesus stood in our place and paid the debt that you and I owe. He lived a perfect sinless life, was crucified, died, and was buried, but three days later He arose from the grave and has now ascended back to that place of glory with God.
Now, not only did Jesus pay for our sin, but He has also sent the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and the Spirit of Truth, to seal and empower those who will obey Him.
Jesus said, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again’” (John 3:6-7 NKJV).
God desires to forgive you of sin and make you righteous.
What is required of you?
Repent and be converted, which means to change your mind about the things of God and turn to Him with the confession of your sins (Acts 3:19, Mark 1:5).
Believe and confess that Jesus Christ is now your Lord, that He can save you from sin, and is the only way to peace with God (Romans 10:9-10).
Those who respond in this way are forgiven of sin and given God’s Spirit. When this happens, you are born again and saved from His judgement (Romans 8:9, Ephesians 1:13, 1 Peter 1:23).
Now we are commanded to be baptized in Jesus’ name (Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:27).
We are also called to be filled with God’s Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17, Ephesians 5:18, Acts 19:2-6).
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Romans 5:12).
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22).
“For [God] hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24 NKJV).
May God bless and direct your path into His Kingdom.
