ARE YOU GOOD ENOUGH TO GO TO HEAVEN?
How would you answer that question?
Most people will say: “Yes, because I am a good person,” or, “I do good things,” or, “I try to be a good husband, father, wife, mother,” and other answers like these.
How does the Bible answer the question?
1. No one is good enough to go to Heaven.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” –Romans 3:23
“They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” –Romans 3:12
If the Bible says that no one is good enough, then how can we get into God’s Heaven?
2. Since we are born sinners we need to have our sins forgiven before we can enter Heaven.
“Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” –Romans 5:12
3. We can’t earn forgiveness of our sins by anything we do—not doing good things, going to church, etc.
“Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.” –Acts 16:30-32
God does all the work of saving us—He initiates this, not us. God does not look on us and save us because we already have a good heart. We are sinners. Salvation is not by any work we do.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” –Ephesians 2:8,9
This is the only way to Heaven—God’s work of savng a person from his or her sins and forgiving them because of Christ’s finished work on the cross.
One must “hear” the Word of God faithfully preached, so we invite you to our Church to hear it.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” –Romans 10:17
