Hey, speaking of the F-Bomb, did you know that God invented the F-Bomb? Really, it’s true! In fact God created the biggest F-Bomb of all. That’s right, GOD, not Hollywood. An F-Bomb so big I call it the 

ATOMIC F-BOMB!

This bomb is so big that when it was dropped the whole earth shook.  The impact was felt across the entire planet. And the fallout from it is still with us today. 

You see the Atomic F-Bomb, God’s F-Bomb, is nothing like the F-Bomb you hear at the movies, or say at school, or use on the job. 

Some two thousand years ago on a hill called Calvary (not Cavalry, no John Wayne in this story), Jesus of Nazareth was nailed to a cross. Not because He was a criminal. Not because He hurt people or molested little children. Jesus was nailed to a cross and put to death because He wanted to be.

You see that’s why Jesus came here in the first place. The Bible says that Jesus of Nazareth was the Son of God and that He came here to save us from spending an eternity without Him. It’s okay if you don’t believe that right now. I didn’t use to either.

From WWII, to Korea, to Vietnam, to the wars in the Middle East there are stories of men who willingly gave up their lives for a fellow soldier. Sometimes for men that they didn’t even know. In a flash an enemy hand grenade was thrown into their midst. With no time to think a courageous and selfless soldier would throw himself onto the grenade to save the lives of one or more other soldiers. They willingly gave up their life so another could live. 

And that is exactly what Jesus did for us. Only Jesus jumped on the biggest hand grenade of all…and we are the ones who pulled the pin. 

See it is our sin, my sin, your sin, all of humanities sin that pulled the pin on Calvary. Jesus threw himself on that cross and shed his blood for us so that we could live for eternity. His death on that cross purchased our salvation and forgiveness for every sin we have ever committed or will commit. 

So what is the ATOMIC F-bomb?

FORGIVENESS

FORGIVENESS exploded at Calvary 2000 years ago.

Drop it on a friend today. Drop it on an enemy. It will change everthing! (And it will mess with their heads.)

Remember this if nothing else: if you had been the only sinner on earth, Jesus would have come and jumped on that cross just for you. That’s how much He loves you.

So the next time you hear “F-whatever,” you can respond with….

“Hey, speaking of the F-Bomb, did you know that …”
