Did you know that God desires a relationship with you? Yes, you! Throughout history God has developed relationships with people just like you. If you’d like to learn more, keep reading.

God Our Creator

God is the Creator. He created human beings “in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). God patterned human beings after Himself, and He gave us dignity, value, and purpose. As God’s extraordinary image bearers, He desires a personal relationship with each one of us.

Sin Our Curse

Unfortunately, the first man and woman (Adam and Eve) rebelled against our Creator God and broke our relationship with Him. Their rebellion introduced sin for all human beings, and God cursed the whole creation. Our sin alienates us from God, and no one lives without sinning. All humans are born sinners, and the Bible says, “there is no righteous person, not even one” (Romans 3:10).

Sadly, sin limits how long we live on earth. The Bible says, “As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years, yet their pride is only trouble and tragedy; for it quickly passes, and we disappear” (Psalm 90:10). Our lives are short and full of difficulties because we sin.

At the end of our earthly lives, our bodies will become lifeless, and our souls will pass into eternity. The Bible explains, “just as it is destined for people to die once, and after this comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). When we eventually die, God will hold us accountable for our sin. How can we prepare for God’s judgment?

Jesus Our Savior

God offers us a way to restore our relationship with Him and to be ready for the judgment. The Bible says, “God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God loved us and gave His Son, Jesus Christ, for our sins.

The Bible says, “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus died to take the penalty of our sins upon Himself, and when He rose from the dead, He demonstrated His power over sin and death.

Simple faith in Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of our sins, cancels God’s judgment against us and provides eternal life. The Bible reveals, “everyone who believes in Him [Jesus] will not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). To receive eternal life we must confess our sins, believe Jesus Christ died and rose again, and accept God’s forgiveness.

Questions to Consider

• Will you acknowledge that God created you?

• Will you confess that you are a sinner?

• Will you ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and trust that He took your judgment?

• Will you receive God’s forgiveness and eternal life?

Next Steps
