Not many of us enjoy going to the doctor or making a trip to the hospital. Pain, weakness, and uncertainty have a way of reminding us just how fragile life can be. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. That’s why it’s so important I share this message with you today.
A Deadly Diagnosis
Did you know we are all born with a spiritual sickness? The Bible diagnoses our condition: “for all have sinned” and “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 3:23, 6:23). Sin separates us from God.
We can’t pretend that sin doesn’t exist. And there’s nothing we can do in our own power to prevent the death it ultimately brings. Unless treated, this spiritual sickness will also cause our soul to end up in Hell for eternity. The only remedy is to find a way back to God. This is why Jesus came!
The Only Cure for Sin
Jesus, the Son of God, was moved with compassion and stepped into our broken world. During His time on earth, He taught people about God’s love and performed many miracles. But more important than healing temporary physical issues, Jesus came to offer the eternal cure for sin. Jesus bore our sins on the cross and willingly laid down His life so we can find forgiveness and healing in Him. Jesus bore “our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
Receive the Remedy Today
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are offered peace with God and eternal life. But reading and knowing these truths is not enough. Just as you must accept a doctor’s treatment for your physical illness, you must also choose to accept the treatment Jesus is offering you for spiritual healing. Cry out and ask Jesus to heal your sin-sick soul. You can follow the example of David who humbly prayed: “Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against Thee” (Psalm 41:4).
God always answers the prayer of someone who repents of sin and wants to be made spiritually well and right with Him. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Hope for a Hurting Heart
When you place your trust in Jesus, you can rest assured that your sins are forgiven, your soul is secure, and a day is coming when even physical sickness and pain will be gone forever. “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain” (Revelation 21:4).
But until that day comes, we can cling to the promise that our souls are secure in Him and that He is with us no matter what happens. God promises “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). Will you accept His cure for your sin today and receive the assurance of eternal life?
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee” (Isaiah 41:10).
