“My father was a wise man and he always explained it like this,” my friend began. I had just finished sharing the way to Heaven with him, but it was clear that the philosophies of his father were deeply embedded in his mind. Unfortunately, those thoughts were not according to divine truth.

He went on: “My father said that going to Heaven is like going to New York: there are many ways to get there, and it doesn’t really matter which one you take. As long as you sincerely follow the way you believe, it will get you there.”

“You are right,” I quickly replied, “about going to New York, but you are completely wrong about going to Heaven. The only map to Heaven, the Bible, clearly presents only one way to get there. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). It is not true that there are many ways and He is just one of them. Nor is it true that Jesus plus something else is the way to Heaven.

Many people have formed various opinions and suggest there are many ways to reach Heaven. However, let us not forget that Heaven is God’s home, and He is the one who decides who may enter and who may not. The opinions, philosophies, and religious systems which people have invented are not only useless for reaching Heaven, they are dangerous because they are sure to end in utter failure: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12).

Philosophy presents a form of moral respectability, but ignores God’s solemn verdict that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Religions of human effort promise that Heaven can be attained through good works and accumulated merit, but God says otherwise: “By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9).

The Word of God presents Jesus Christ, and Christ alone, as the way for ruined, helpless sinners like you and me to enter into Heaven. To cleanse us from sin, He “put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” (Hebrews 9:26) when He “suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God”
(1 Peter 3:18). The pouring out of His precious blood at Calvary atoned for sin and paved the way for guilty people like you and me to draw near to God. Through Jesus Christ we can be cleansed, forgiven, and made fit for His holy presence.

This way is still open, dear reader. Jesus has already entered into the Father’s house and wants you to be with Him in that place of eternal glory. To go to Heaven, you need to do nothing more than realize your hopeless condition and trust Jesus Christ as the One who died for you and rose again. This is salvation by grace through faith. This is the way to Heaven. Call upon Him today.

Following any other way, however plausible it may seem, however religious it may be, or however sincerely it is pursued only leads away from God and is guaranteed to end in “the blackness of darkness forever” (Jude 13). Allow this tract, as a signpost along the highway of life, to point you to the Lord Jesus who says: “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37). —D.T.J.

«Mi padre era hombre prudente y siempre lo explicaba así» comenzó mi amigo. Ya acababa yo de decirle del camino al Cielo, pero estaba claro que las filosofías de sus padres estaban muy grabadas en su memoria. Por desgracia, esos pensamientos no estaban de acuerdo con la verdad divina.

Continuó él «Mi padre decía que ir al Cielo es como ir a Nueva York: hay muchos caminos hacia allá y no importa por cual te vayas. Mientras sigas sinceramente al que creas correcto, llegarás.»

«Tienes razón» le contesté «en eso de llegar a Nueva York, pero estás completamente equivocado en eso de ir al Cielo.» El único mapa al Cielo, que es la Biblia, claramente presenta solamente un camino para llegar allá. Jesucristo nos dice «Soy el camino, la verdad, y la vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí.» (Juan 14:6) No es verdad que hay muchos caminos al Cielo ni que Jesucristo es sólo uno de los caminos. Tampoco es cierto que Jesucristo más algo más nos lleve al Cielo.

Muchas personas se han formado diversas opiniones y sugieren que hay muchos caminos para llegar al Cielo. Sin embargo, no olvidemos que el Cielo es el domicilio de Dios y es Él quien decide quien puede o no puede entrar y como se puede entrar. Las opiniones, las filosofías y los sistemas religiosos que el ser humano ha inventado no son solamente inútiles para llegar al Cielo, son peligrosos porque están destinados a terminar en un fracaso total: «Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho; pero su fin es camino de muerte.» (Proverbios 14:12)

La filosofía aparece presentar una forma de respetabilidad moral, pero pasa por alto el veredicto solemne de Dios que «todos pecaron, y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios.» (Romanos 3:23) Las religiones del esfuerzo humano prometen que el Cielo puede ser alcanzado por buenas obras y mérito acumulado, pero Dios nos dice «Porque por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de vosotros, pues es don de Dios; no por obras, para que nadie se gloríe.» (Efesios 2:8,9)

La Palabra de Dios nos presenta a Jesucristo, y sólo Cristo, como el único camino por cual los pecadores arruinados e impotentes como usted y yo podamos entrar en el Cielo. Para limpiarnos del pecado, Jesucristo «se presentó una vez para siempre por el sacrificio de sí mismo para quitar de en medio el pecado» (Hebreos 9:26) cuando «padeció una sola vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos a Dios.» (1 Pedro 3:18) El derramamiento de su sangre preciosa en el Calvario pagó por todos nuestros pecados y abrió camino para que las personas culpables como usted y yo tuviéramos derecho de acercarnos a Dios. Por Jesucristo, podemos estar limpiados, perdonados, y hecho justificados y listos para entrar en Su santa presencia.

Este camino por Jesucristo sigue abierto, estimado lector. Jesucristo ya ha entrada en la casa del Padre y quiere que Ud. estuviera con Él en ese lugar de gloria eterna. Para ir al cielo, no se necesita hacer más que realizar su condición desesperada y creer que Jesucristo es el que murió y resucitó el tercer día para salvar a Ud. Ésta es la salvación por gracia mediante la fe. Esto es el único camino verdadero al Cielo. Llámelo a Jesucristo hoy para recibir Su salvación.

Seguir cualquier otro camino, por plausible o religioso que parezca, y a pesar de la sinceridad con que lo persiga, solo le separará más deDios y sólo se garantiza terminar en «la oscuridad de las tinieblas eternamente.» (Judas 1:13) Permita que este folleto sea para Ud. una señal en el camino de la vida, mostrándole al Señor Jesucristo quien le dice a Ud. «al que a mí viene, no le echo fuera.» (Juan 6:37) —D.T.J.
