One day I woke up in a strange place, and the mother I loved was gone. My brother, my two younger sisters, and I were left with relatives. I kept hoping it was only a nightmare and that my old life would return. It did not.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI spent my young life searching for that love again, often in the wrong places. I became determined to be the perfect mother so my own children would never feel the pain I had felt. But I discovered that good intentions could not fill the emptiness in my heart. I needed something more. I tried religion, but it felt cold and out of reach.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eThen a small light began to shine.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy best friend, Sue, had started going to church and had gotten \u003ci\u003e“saved.” \u003c\/i\u003eI avoided her for a while, but God kept bringing to my mind a Bible verse I had learned as a child:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eJohn 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSue patiently showed me from the Bible that Jesus loved me and that He could change my life. I went to church, listened to the preaching, searched the Scriptures for myself, and finally stopped running. I asked Jesus to forgive my sins and be my Savior. And He did!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe Love I Had Been Looking For\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eI had never known peace, joy, and love like this. The Bible became alive to me. I learned that I was not alone, that Jesus would never leave me, and that He offered a peace the world could not give. I was ready to turn from my sin and turn to God. My prayer is that you will do the same.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSalvation is not found in being a perfect mother, living a perfect life, or trying harder. It is found in Jesus Christ. If you know that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross of Calvary, and rose again, call on Him in faith.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA prayer does not save by itself; Jesus saves. The prayer simply expresses the faith and repentance of a heart that is calling on Him. \u003ci\u003e“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eJeremiah 29:13\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAnd My Mother’s Story?\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter years of alcoholism and a life that had nearly been destroyed, my mother also got saved. For the last four years of her life, I had my “Mommy” back. Best of all, because of Christ, I have the hope of spending eternity with her in Heaven.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI have not always been the best mom in the world, but I have always wanted to be.
