My name is Pastor Lucho. I was born in New York City to parents from the island of Puerto Rico. From the age of three, my mother raised me to believe in God and in Jesus Christ. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eActs 4:12\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e \u003ci\u003e“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHowever, the neighborhood where I grew up during the 1970s was infested with drugs. I began using drugs in 1976, when I was only seven years old. By the age of fourteen, I was an alcoholic. I was also using heroin and cocaine, smoking marijuana, and taking other drugs. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt sixteen, I was run over by a garbage truck, leaving severe damage to my right leg. During those troubled years, I was arrested more than thirty times and eventually served a total of nine years in prison. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn 1990, in New York City, I went to court facing three armed-robbery charges and four separate drug-possession charges. One judge sentenced me to a year for the drug charges. Two other judges gave me one year each for two robbery charges. A fourth judge sentenced me to two and a half years for the remaining robbery charge, with the sentences running consecutively. I faced almost six years in prison. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eDelivered in Prison \u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ci\u003eGod met me in the place of my affliction \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI served thirty-eight months. During the first twelve months of my incarceration, I continued using drugs. Yet God delivered me. In 1993, at the age of twenty-three, I returned home completely free from drugs and cigarettes. Today, in 2026, I can testify that I have remained drug-free and cigarette-free for thirty-five years.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI had begun serving God in prison, but when I returned home, I did not continue faithfully. I let my guard down. That is why I tell the men and women in every prison I visit: We must not forget God after our release. Our first priority should be to find a sound, Bible-teaching church and continue building our relationship with Jesus Christ. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI eventually began drinking alcohol again. On January 5, 2001, I became drunk and fought two police officers in Florida. I nearly lost my life. I pulled out a knife intending to stab an officer. He drew his gun but did not shoot me, so I ran. Another officer caught up with me, and I assaulted him. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI was charged with the attempted murder of a Florida police officer, a charge that could have resulted in life imprisonment. I truly repented of my sins and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. He answered my prayers. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eMercy in the Courtroom \u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ci\u003eThe sentence did not have the final word \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEventually, the attempted-murder charge was reduced to aggravated assault on a law-enforcement officer, along with battery on a law-enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence. Aggravated assault carried a possible fifteen-year sentence. Because of my previous robbery convictions in New York, I was classified as a habitual offender, which could have doubled that sentence. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen I pleaded guilty, I expected the judge to impose thirty years. Instead, the judge showed mercy. He pronounced sentences of fifteen years for aggravated assault, ten years for battery, and ten years for resisting arrest with violence. Then, to my surprise, he ordered that I serve five years in prison followed by ten years of supervised probation. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI was released in April 2005 after serving fifty-one months. I immediately began attending the church that had visited the prison. I was determined not to forget God again. During those fifty-one months, I had diligently studied the Holy Bible to prepare myself for ministry. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThat church ministered to people experiencing homelessness on Friday evenings, so I began serving. I shared a newspaper article about my arrest with a woman at the church. She told me that she knew the officer I had assaulted and would introduce us. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eA Miracle of Forgiveness\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ci\u003eThe officer I assaulted helped set me free \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTwo weeks later, I stood face-to-face with that officer. I asked whether he remembered me. At first, he said no. When I showed him the newspaper article, he remembered and said that I had been out of control and had beaten him. But he also said that he recognized a tremendous difference in my life. Then he did something he had never done before: He gave me his telephone number. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI gathered the courage to ask whether he would help me seek early termination of my ten-year probation. He agreed. Ordinarily, I was supposed to complete five years with good behavior before asking the court for early termination. Because the officer was willing to help, I filed the motion after a little more than two years. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBoth officers appeared in court and spoke with the district attorney. The district attorney then spoke with the judge, and the judge terminated the remainder of my ten-year probation. I later described the entire situation to Google and asked about the probability of such an outcome in a Florida court. The answer characterized it as “one in a million.” \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI see it as the mercy of God. The very officer I had assaulted became part of the process through which I received freedom. God used forgiveness to close a chapter that violence had opened.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eFrom Prison to the Nations \u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ci\u003eProclaiming the goodness of God \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter my probation was terminated, I quickly obtained my passport so I could travel on missions and proclaim the goodness of God. I first went to the Dominican Republic, followed by Ecuador, Guatemala, and Romania, where I shared my God-given testimony and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in two prisons. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGod later opened doors for ministry in sixteen prisons in Mexico and ten prisons in Colombia. I am continuing, step by step, to carry this message around the world for the glory of God. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhat is my principal message? First, the Lord Jesus Christ loves you, and He knows exactly where you are. Even imprisonment can become part of God’s love, mercy, grace, discipline, and justice in your life. I hope that by the time you finish reading this testimony, you will understand why. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003ePsalm 119:67\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e \u003ci\u003e“Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word.”\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003ePsalm 119:71\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e \u003ci\u003e“It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.”\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBefore we were afflicted and humbled, many of us went astray. But now we can say, “Lord, I am seeking You, learning Your Word, and choosing to obey You.” Prison does not have to be the end of your story. In Christ, it can become the place where a new life begins. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eEternity and the Book of Life \u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ci\u003eThere is hope today \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eRevelation 20:15\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e \u003ci\u003e“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn many occasions, I came close to dying in my sins. God spared me from eternal judgment. Looking back, I can say, “Thank You, Jesus Christ, that I went to prison and finally surrendered my life to You.” Prison has a release date; eternal separation from God does not. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI searched the worldwide death statistics for 2025 and learned that approximately 63 million people died around the world. That equals about 5.3 million a month, 1.2 million a week, 173,000 a day, 7,200 an hour, 120 a minute, and two every second. We are still alive. Even though we may be in a physical prison, it is far better than dying in our sins and going into an eternal Hell. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOne hundred years is not even a fraction of eternity. That is why I thank Jesus Christ for not allowing me to die in my sins. I thank Him for His intervention, even though it took prison to bring me to repentance. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eActs 3:19\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e \u003ci\u003e“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJesus is calling you today. Your past does not place you beyond His reach. Turn away from sin, place your faith in His death and resurrection, and surrender your life to Him. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eTHE WAY TO SALVATION \u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ci\u003e12 BIBLE TRUTHS \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e1. JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJohn 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e4. HELL WAS NOT CREATED FOR HUMANITY \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMatthew 25:41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e8. THE DEVIL, BEAST, AND FALSE PROPHET\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRevelation 20:10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e9. GOD DOES NOT WANT ANYONE TO PERISH\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e10. GOD IS LOVE \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e11. JESUS UNDERSTANDS OUR SUFFERING \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e12. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, and I open my heart and invite Him into my life. I believe that He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day, defeating sin and death. \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003eFill me now with Your Holy Spirit.
