Edify One Another
Can there be any doubt to the thoughtful believer that the Church today is in a weakened condition? Many years of continued liberalism, apathy, and lack of learning have left the Church in pitiful shape. Although this may have been foretold in the Scriptures, still this is not the Lord's will for His Church. He would have us strong. He wants us to have "strong confidence" (Proverbs 14:26), He wants us to "be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10), He wants us to "be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 2:1). He wants us to be strong because He is strong (1 Corinthians 16:13; Jeremiah 50:34).
Realizing the instruction and value of edifying one another, we may then ask, "How can I edify my brethren in Christ? What can I do to make my brother or sister stronger?" The Lord gives us several things that are specifically meant to bring edification.
