In John 15:13 Jesus said:

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

That is the kind of love that you show every day when the tones go off, and you respond to help someone in need. This is the love that Jesus demonstrated when He sacrificed His own life on the cross so that we can be forgiven for our sins and have the hope of eternal life.

“But God commendeth [demonstrated] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

You want to protect and save every life that is in danger, but sadly, there are times that we cannot. That reality brings forth some questions that demand an answer. What if the next call you go on is your last? What if you make the ultimate sacrifice in service to your community?
