Being a Pharisee, he had devoted himself to gaining knowledge of God’s word. He had heard about the man called Jesus and how he confounded the teachers of the law at the age of 12.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe need to have a conversation with Jesus weighed heavily upon his mind. Could this man be the miracle worker spoken by Isaiah that would open the eyes of the blind? He had to find out for himself.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNicodemus made some inquiries and found where he and his followers would be sleeping that night. At evening time, he changed out of his priestly clothes and dressed himself as a common man, not wanting to be recognized by anyone.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHe approached the location where they were staying with caution. His heart was beating out of his chest. What would he find? Would Jesus be harsh and condemning? He continued trying to be good enough for God’s mercy to be upon him, but it never satisfied the thirst of his soul. As Nicodemus came near to Jesus, Jesus invited him to come closer and talk. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn the heart of Nicodemus, a scripture passage whispered to him and said \u003ci\u003e“Come now, and let us reason together.”\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAs Nicodemus drew closer, he felt compelled to pour his heart out to this man. He had questions. How could he do these miracles? How could he know all about me?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJesus did not address these questions; rather, he went straight to the problem. He told him, \u003ci\u003e“You must be born again.”\u003c\/i\u003e Nicodemus could not understand.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAs Nicodemus listened, Christ referred to himself twice as the Son of man. Nicodemus began to recall the writings of Daniel and the Ancient of Days. Twice during their conversation, Christ had spoken about the necessity of believing in him.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen the conversation was over, as Nicodemus began his journey home, one verse kept returning to his heart. The prophet Joel had written that \u003ci\u003e“whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered.”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSometime later, it seems that Nicodemus believed upon the Lord. Scripture does not record the event of his conversion. However, it is recorded that he spoke in John 7 about the necessity of listening to Jesus. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLater in John 19:39-40 it is mentioned that Nicodemus came publicly and retrieved the body of Christ. He cared for the body of Christ in front of everyone after the crucifixion. He was willing to identify himself with Christ no matter what the cost.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eWhat is your relationship with Christ? \u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\n\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eHave you had a conversation with him about your soul?
