In the ancient world, redemption meant buying a person out of slavery. It represents a huge cost—and yet it shines with hope. To see its beauty, we must first see our true condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eOur Spiritual Condition\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Bible says that \u003cb\u003eGod is holy\u003c\/b\u003e—utterly separate from sin and perfectly good, pure, and righteous. This creates a serious problem for us. Even a wicked thought is sin \u003ci\u003e(Matthew 5:28).\u003c\/i\u003e Sin is not only doing wrong things \u003ci\u003e(1 John 3:4) \u003c\/i\u003ebut also failing to do what is right \u003ci\u003e(James 4:17).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBecause God is perfectly pure, we can never meet His standard on our own, no matter how hard we try. No amount of religious effort or self improvement can break the chains of our guilt.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe are in bondage, carrying a debt far too great for us to pay. Since sin leads to death, God has established that forgiveness requires the payment of a life. This principle runs through the entire Bible. One verse makes it clear:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e“Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e(Hebrews 9:22)\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eOur Debt Transferred\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the cross, a\u003cb\u003e legal exchange\u003c\/b\u003e took place. Jesus did not become a sinner, but He took our place and died as our substitute.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIsaiah 53:5–6 says:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e“He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins … the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.”\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSimply put: on the cross, Jesus was treated as if He were guilty of our sins and punished for them, so that we could be made right with God. He was treated as a criminal so that we could be treated as children of God.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe Result: The Forgiveness of Sins\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eEphesians 1:7 tells us that God \u003ci\u003e“purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen God forgives us, He does not forget the facts of what happened. Instead, He makes a divine choice: He will never bring those sins against us in judgment again. The debt is canceled. And the proof…?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eA Living Redeemer\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eIf the story ended at the grave, we might wonder if the payment was enough. But three days later, Jesus was raised to life. By raising Jesus, God the Father showed that the payment for sin was fully accepted. The resurrection is proof that our debt is paid in full and the legal exchange is complete.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRomans 4:25 puts it this way:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p9\"\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e“He was handed over to die because of our sins, and was raised to life to make us right with God.”\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGod did this so we would never die in our sins or be forever separated from Him.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"p10\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eJesus was forsaken so we might be welcomed.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"p10\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eJesus was condemned so we might be declared innocent.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"p11\"\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eJesus was cast out so we might be brought into God’s family.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe freedom Jesus purchased is not just a story of the past—it is our present reality.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe Ladder Versus the Cross\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eMost religions offer a “ladder” to God. They teach that if you climb high enough and do enough good things, you might reach God. But Jesus offers a \u003cb\u003ecross\u003c\/b\u003e. He tells us we could never climb high enough, so God came down to us.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn that cross, Jesus cried, \u003ci\u003e“It is finished!” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e(John 19:30).\u003c\/i\u003e He did not say, “I have started the work—now you finish it,” or “I have paid half—now pay the other half.” He completed the work entirely.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOur spiritual deliverance, then, does not depend on our fragile efforts. It rests on God’s divine purpose. We live in this hope until the day our redemption is complete—when we stand before Jesus, freed forever from sin’s presence.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eAccepting the Gift\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eYou may feel a heavy weight of guilt. You may have tried to silence it by becoming a “good person,” but inside you are still a prisoner to your own sin. The Good News is that you do not have to stay that way.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eRedemption is offered freely because the price has already been fully paid—it is a gift waiting for you to receive it. \u003c\/b\u003eHere’s how you can receive it:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p12\"\u003e\u003cb\u003e1. Admit your need.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eConfess that you have sinned and cannot pay the debt of your own sin.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p12\"\u003e\u003cb\u003e2. Turn to God.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTurn away from your sins and stop relying on your own strength. The Bible calls this \u003cb\u003erepentance\u003c\/b\u003e. Jesus Himself said, \u003ci\u003e“Repent of your sins and turn to God”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003e(Matthew 4:17).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p12\"\u003e\u003cb\u003e3. Trust in Jesus Christ alone.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBelieve that the blood of Jesus was the full and final payment for your sins. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior. The Bible says, \u003ci\u003e“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003e(Romans 10:9).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p13\"\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e** Will you receive God’s free gift of freedom—or remain in slavery to sin and face God’s judgment? **\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eA Prayer of Faith\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eIf you want to accept this gift of freedom from sin, you can pray to God right now, from your heart. You might pray something like this:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p14\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eLord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. Please have mercy on me.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p14\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eI believe You are the Son of God who died on the cross to pay my debt in full and rose from the grave to give me new life.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p14\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eRight now, I turn from my sins and put my trust in You alone.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p14\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eForgive me and make me Your child. Help me to live for You from this day forward.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"p15\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eAmen.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIf you prayed this sincerely from your heart, tell someone who follows Jesus and find a Bible teaching church to help you grow in your new freedom.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003eRemember Your Freedom\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eGrateful obedience begins with \u003cb\u003ewater baptism\u003c\/b\u003e. Just as Jesus died and was buried for our sins, we are “buried” to our old way of life.
