It isn’t Santa Claus, his reindeer, nor the Easter Bunny. It is trusting in the Lord Jesus. It is believing that the Holy Scriptures are the word of God. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen it comes to getting saved and receiving salvation, how much faith is required? A lot? A good amount? Jesus’ answer as seen in Luke 17:5,6 is that with even a very tiny amount of faith – \u003ci\u003e“a grain of mustard seed,”\u003c\/i\u003e great things can happen. The Bible consistently teaches the main importance of faith is not faith itself but rather where it is placed; it is centered in God.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eWhat is FAITH? \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is simply TRUSTING. It isn’t a diploma handed out to those of great intellectual prowess. In God’s plan of salvation, the sin of human pride is set aside in all its aspects \u003ci\u003e(read 1 Corinthians 1:18-29).\u003c\/i\u003e [To physically or electronically have access to the word of God is to do yourself a favor.] If a child is old enough to feel the guilt of doing something bad, they are old enough to put faith in the only Savior from sin, the Lord Jesus Christ. \u003ci\u003e“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” \u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e(Matthew 19:14).\u003c\/i\u003e Parents, it is your responsibility that your children, given to you by God, grow up hearing GOOD teaching about Jesus and His love. If you are not saved, get saved—not only because it is indescribably important for your own soul, but for all those around you who are dear to your heart.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn the wide religious world of faith and spirituality, faith is described in various ways. Do not let the world tell you what faith is. The only reliable source of true faith is God’s Holy word, the Holy Bible. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, the Corinthian Christians are reminded, \u003ci\u003e“For we walk by FAITH, not by sight.”\u003c\/i\u003e Before we can walk with the Lord we need to be saved. We all started out our life walking dead in trespasses and sin \u003ci\u003e(Ephesians 2:1-3).\u003c\/i\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eTrue faith always has God and His word at its center. \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo walk correctly you need to see the path. Psalm 119:105 says, \u003ci\u003e“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”\u003c\/i\u003e What does it mean then when it says \u003ci\u003e“not by sight”\u003c\/i\u003e? There are the eyes of understanding in your spirit and the eyes of flesh in your head. The eyes of flesh can see circumstances that look favorable such as ‘easy money’ or a downward path that is smooth and easy to walk on, yet leads to great danger. The eyes of flesh are like the proverbial ‘wetting of the finger and sticking it in the air to see which way the wind is blowing.’ The proverb to follow is the one found in the Bible: \u003ci\u003e“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003e(Proverb 3:5-6).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThere is a grave danger in the religious world of putting sensations in place of FAITH. These feelings can be physically tied to the nervous system that can give the same kind of pleasurable sensations that some drugs can give. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThere is a great difference between great emotional joy that is knowledge based and ecstasy that is neurologically based. The following are a few scriptural warnings to some mystical and charismatic movement phenomena: \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003ci\u003e“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Timothy 3:5).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003ci\u003e“Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith” (2 Timothy 3:8).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003ci\u003e“Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments” (Exodus 7:11). \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003ci\u003e“These be they who separate themselves, SENSUAL, having not the Spirit” (Jude 19).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen Paul and Silas spoke to the Philippian jailor \u003ci\u003e(Acts 16:31)\u003c\/i\u003e, they didn’t say believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt FEEL saved. They said, \u003ci\u003e“… Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou SHALT BE saved, and thy house.” \u003c\/i\u003eTrue faith honors the word of God by accepting it as true without demanding a divine appearance, an angel from heaven, a miracle, or a physical sensation.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eWhy should we trust in God?\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe supreme reason and answer is found in John 3:16, \u003ci\u003e“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”\u003c\/i\u003e The skeptic might respond that just quoting a verse from a religious book is not sufficient. Ah, but that religious book is the word of God, the Holy Scriptures that were given by direct revelation from God. The skeptic might further say that’s just your opinion. Why should we have faith in\/trust that the Holy Scriptures ARE the word of God and not just the surmising of men? Revelation 19:10(b) tells us, \u003ci\u003e“…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”\u003c\/i\u003e The “gospel of Christ” is called, \u003ci\u003e“…the power of God unto salvation…”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003e(Romans 1:16).\u003c\/i\u003e Ah, but you say this is just more verses. Yes, but just two more verses in 1 Corinthians, and then let us reason together. \u003ci\u003e“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES:” (\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e1 Corinthians 15:3\u0026amp;4\u003c\/i\u003e).\u003ci\u003e \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe gospel of Christ is so powerful not only because it describes the greatest love that ever has been or will be, the greatest rescue that has been or ever will be, but also because the event of Jesus’ death on the cross was foretold long ago in minute detail by prophecy.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen you travel through the pages of Holy Scripture you travel through scenes of the awe and wonder of God, the movement of the hand of God unfolding the ancient purposes and plans of God to bring man, whom he created, into a place of untold beauty and untold joy in a fellowship that is unbreakable through the ages of eternity.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhat is FAITH? It is the hand that reaches out and takes the gift of eternal life from the hand of God. \u003ci\u003e“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003e(Romans 10:17).\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003e“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003e(Romans 6:23).\u003c\/i\u003e Wages are earned.
