The police rush to the scene, knowing that among the dead and injured they may find one individual who died by choice. Explosives strapped to his body, this person was willing to die in order to kill as many of his enemies as possible.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA person willing to die so that his enemies will also die is bad news—especially if we happen to be the enemies! But by way of contrast, here is some very good news. There is someone who was willing to die so that you and I could \u003cem\u003elive.\u003c\/em\u003e Not just live physically, but live life as it really should be lived: with no guilt blocking our relationship with God, and no fear of coming punishment for our sins. This is eternal life, and someone was willing to die so we could have it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eYou probably know who that person is. His name is Jesus, the Son of God from heaven. He was the one person who didn’t have to die: death is the result of sin\u003csup\u003e1\u003c\/sup\u003e and he never sinned. He died voluntarily, allowing men to crucify him. While he was on the cross, the Bible says that God was punishing him for our sins.\u003csup\u003e2\u003c\/sup\u003e When the punishment was accomplished, Jesus said, “It is finished!” and willingly died.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eYou may be wondering why anyone really needed to die for us. It seems pretty drastic, especially if we feel our life is okay as it is. But one thing we learn from the Bible is that God doesn’t look at things the way we do. “There is no difference, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”\u003csup\u003e3\u003c\/sup\u003e is a summary of our condition as God sees it. Because of his infinite holiness, our sin and disobedience to him cannot be overlooked or go unpunished. If our sin is not taken care of, not only is there a barrier between us and God in this life, but also God’s judgment to expect in the next.\u003csup\u003e4\u003c\/sup\u003e The purpose of Jesus’ willing death was to pay for our sins, so God could forgive us.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe fact that Jesus died for us is one proof that no one can earn eternal life by their good deeds or religious observances. If we could get to heaven by our efforts or goodness, then he would not have needed to suffer at all. But his death was an absolute necessity, because nothing we do can ever take away the guilt of our sins. Jesus did everything required by God to pay for our sins, and by trusting in him alone we can receive the free gift of eternal life.\u003csup\u003e5\u003c\/sup\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSadly, some will kill themselves in order to kill others. But God’s good news is that Jesus was willing to suffer and die so he could offer you and me eternal life. The issue of abortion leaves little room for a third position: one must either side with those who believe the sanctity of life extends to unborn children, who \u003cem\u003eall\u003c\/em\u003e have the right to life, or with those who say it is the mother’s right to choose what happens to her baby.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBeing someone who believes in God, and that every life is precious, I am pro-life. However, rather than passing judgment on or showing hate to those who are pro-choice, my heart goes out to them—especially to those who have had an abortion or are considering one. It is my desire to not only speak for the unborn, but also to show forth God’s love.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis raises an interesting question: Is God pro-life or pro-choice? If we’re talking about ending the physical life of an unborn baby, I believe God’s Word, the Holy Bible, makes it very clear that He has an interest in every person, even the unborn: “Did not He that made me in the womb make him? and did not One fashion us in the womb?; Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee” (Job 31:15; Jeremiah 1:5). There is also no mistaking from Scripture that taking the life of an innocent person is murder, and that putting your own desires ahead of another’s well-being is sin.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHowever, as emotionally-charged and socially-impacting as the issue of abortion is, there is another one of even greater importance and more vital consequence: the issue of where \u003cem\u003eyou\u003c\/em\u003e will spend eternity. You see, even though you are the child of your earthly parents, it is ultimately \u003cem\u003eGod\u003c\/em\u003e who created you with a never-dying spirit and soul, and when your days on earth are over, it is \u003cem\u003eGod\u003c\/em\u003e to whom you must give account.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe Bigger Question\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen it comes to \u003cem\u003eyour eternal fate,\u003c\/em\u003e is God pro-life or pro-choice? Does He want everyone to live forever with Him in Heaven, or does He leave it up to each individual to decide? The answer is \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eboth\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThough it is God’s desire for all people to know Him, love Him, and spend eternity with Him (see 1 Timothy 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9.), there is one thing that stands in the way: \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003esin\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. Sin takes many forms, from the worst actions to the subtlest thoughts and attitudes, but all sin separates us from a holy God: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We don’t have to look very far to see the effects of sin, because its symptoms and end result are universal: “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Bible says that each person is a “servant of sin” and “dead in sins,” so the remedy for sin cannot come from within us. It must come from God, and it \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ehas\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e come from God! “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). God loves you, and gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in the sinner’s place, bearing the punishment for \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eall\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e the sins of those who will turn to Him.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSome people think that since God is “pro-life” when it comes to salvation, His love will prevent anyone from facing eternity in Hell as judgment for their sins. \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eIt will not.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e Rather, His love has already provided the way of salvation for all who will receive it, and \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eyou must choose\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e to accept it or reject it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWill you choose to bear God’s judgment for your sins through a never-ending eternity of torment, or will you come to Jesus Christ and be washed pure and white in His precious blood by believing that He died in your place and rose again?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIf you or someone you know is considering an abortion, look in the yellow pages under “Abortion Alternatives” to find Christians in your area who will lovingly show you a better choice, and give you the help you need. So, how can I face Him when there is sin in my life?”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“I guess God doesn’t love me then.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne the contrary, read this:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause Christ’s death on the cross pays for our sin, and His resurrection gives us new life, you don’t have to feel insecure anymore.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“I don’t?”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy trusting in Jesus, you can have the only true security knowing God and being loved by Him for all eternity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“I can?”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“Lord Jesus, come into my life and be my Savior. Isn’t it intolerant, condescending, and unloving to think anyone can know what truth is?...Especially truth about God?”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“Aren’t we supposed to be tolerant of other religions as equally valid ways to find God?”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“The Bible tells us that there is only one way to God- through His Son, Jesus.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“Come on now, Isn’t believing there is one way to God narrow-minded?”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“Not narrow-minded...but the Bible does say that the path to God is narrow.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. People suffer because people sin. It is because all of creation is ruined from sin (Isaiah 6:5). Since God is Holy, all who die in their sin must be punished. The Bible tells us of a place called the lake of fire, that burns forever, and we are told that it is a place of torment where those who die in their sin will go to spend eternity.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRomans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLuke 16:19-26 “There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. In the garden, after Adam and Eve sinned, God killed an animal and covered their nakedness with the skins of the animal.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e2,000 years ago, a virgin named Mary gave birth to a son. This was no ordinary child—His father was God.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMatthew 1:20-21\u003c\/strong\u003e “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.”\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMary gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This same Jesus was born without a corrupted sin nature, because God was His father. This same Jesus Christ was the redeemer God had promised in the garden of Eden. This same Jesus went around doing miracles: healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, making the crippled walk again, and even raising people from the dead. However, those to whom Jesus was sent rejected Him because He claimed to be God. Jesus was mocked, spit upon, beaten, whipped, and eventually nailed to a wooden cross where multitudes of people watched Him die.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhy did God let this happen? Why would God let His Son be crucified? These verses give us the answer:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJohn 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJesus Christ was just like the animal God killed in the garden to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness. On the cross, Jesus Christ had all of OUR sins placed upon Him. He died so that He could take away your sin, and so that you could be made righteous, and so that you would not have to go to that place of torment for your sins when you die. In the Old Testament, God commanded the Jews to offer animal sacrifices to atone for their sins. God did this to foreshadow the true Lamb of God: Jesus Christ.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIsaiah 53:3-7 “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to His own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.”\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNote that Isaiah wrote these words around 700 years before Christ was even born!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter Jesus died, they buried Him, but three days later He rose from the dead! Jesus Christ then ascended up to heaven where He waits now. One day, He’s coming back again to rule and reign as King over the whole earth. Those who have received Him as their Savior and have placed their trust in Him, will be resurrected and reign with Him!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe good news is this: Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again, and He’s coming back some day. The word believe, as it’s commonly used today, means to acknowledge something as true. For example, if I say I believe in God, I am saying I believe God does in fact exist. The Bible uses the word believe in a slightly different way. To believe or have faith means to DEPEND UPON or to TRUST IN. Here’s an example: suppose you did not have car and went to work. You normally take the bus home when you get off work, so you go and wait at the bus stop. You believe in the bus to come to the stop and take you home. You have faith in the bus. This is what it means to have faith in Jesus. Believing in Jesus is more than believing intellectual facts about Christ. Why would He take people from this world? Just as things are being mandated now, the Bible describes one person—the Antichrist—who will rise to power and issue a mandate as well.
