When the Founding Fathers wrote the U.S. Constitution, they set out to form “a more perfect union.” Have we achieved a more perfect union today?

While Americans have much to be thankful for, doesn’t it seem like we could do better? Rather than striving toward a perfect union, it often feels as if we’re going the opposite direction. Our divisions grow deeper by the day, tearing our country apart. We’re promised solutions by the next president, senator, or supreme court justice but they constantly let us down. Will we ever live up to the Founding Fathers’ dreams?

The United States is not alone in striving for a perfect nation. There have been numerous ideas for how countries should be governed, but perfection has not been achieved. Is there any hope for a more perfect union? Listen to what God has said:

There is none who does good, no, not one. Romans 3:12

Throughout history all people have been corrupted by sin. Every nation will struggle because they are founded by, directed by, and inhabited by sinful people. While some ideas are better than others, no form of government or economic structure will ever be perfect. Despite who is in office or what laws are in place, society will suffer the effects of sin through evils such as injustice, immorality, and crime.

Your iniquities have separated you from your God. Isaiah 59:2

While God may judge a nation for its departure from Him, the individual consequences of sin are much more severe. God is holy. He cannot sin and will not tolerate any sin. Our sin causes us to be separated from God, and His holy justice requires a punishment for all sin.

He [God] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

But God is merciful. In His love the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take sin’s penalty in our place. Jesus, who is God, remained perfectly righteous while He lived as a man on the earth. He then died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later. His death was the perfect sacrifice to take away our sin. As a result, all who believe on Him are given His righteousness, not because they earned it, but as a gift of God’s marvelous grace.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. Acts 16:31

Salvation comes when we put our faith in Jesus Christ. At that moment our sins are forgiven, and we are clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Because Jesus took our punishment, we can enjoy a relationship with God, both now and throughout eternity.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20

All who trust in Jesus Christ for salvation are given a Heavenly citizenship. While we still have the benefits and responsibilities of our American citizenship, we also enjoy the blessings of this better citizenship in the Kingdom of God. We longingly wait for the day that Jesus returns. Then our Heavenly citizenship will be our only citizenship and we will live as a part of His perfect kingdom forever!

Will you be ready when Jesus returns, or will you be excluded from His kingdom because of your sin? Turn to Him today, ask His forgiveness, and trust Him as your Savior and Lord. He will take away your sins, give you His righteousness, and bring you into God’s family. 

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

1. HAY VIDA DESPUÉS DE LA MUERTE

4. NUESTRA “BONDAD” NO ES LO SUFICIENTEMENTE BUENA

“Todos nosotros somos como el inmundo, y como trapo de inmundicia todas nuestras obras justas” (Isaías 64:6).

“Cualquiera que guarda toda la ley, pero tropieza en un punto, se ha hecho culpable de todos” (Santiago 2:10).

“Por gracia habéis sido salvados por medio de la fe… no por obras, para que nadie se gloríe” (Efesios 2:8-9).

5. DIOS OFRECE LA VÍA DE ESCAPE 

“Dios demuestra su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros” (Romanos 5:8).

“Porque también Cristo murió por los pecados una sola vez, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos a Dios” (1 Pedro 3:18).

6. JESUCRISTO VIVE PARA DARTE VIDA

“Jesús le dijo: Yo soy la resurrección y la vida; el que cree en mí, aunque muera, vivirá” (Juan 11:25).

“Hay un solo Dios, y también un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Cristo Jesús hombre” (1 Tim. 2:5).

“La paga del pecado es muerte, pero la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro” (Romanos 6:23).

7. DEBES CONFIAR EN JESUCRISTO

“Venid ahora, y razonemos —dice el SEÑOR— aunque vuestros pecados sean como la grana, como la nieve serán emblanquecidos” (Isaías 1:18).

“Si confiesas con tu boca a Jesús por Señor, y crees en tu corazón que Dios le resucitó de entre los muertos, serás salvo” (Romanos 10:9).

“Y en ningún otro hay salvación, porque no hay otro nombre bajo el cielo dado a los hombres, en el cual podamos ser salvos” (Hechos 4:12).

¿Sabes que estas 7 cosas son verdaderas?

El deseo de Dios es que conozcas Su plan de salvación. Y más que eso, ¡es de vital importancia que conozcas a Jesucristo como tu Señor y Salvador el día de hoy!

1. There is life after death

“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)

2. We will all stand before God

5. God provides a way out

“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.” (1 Peter 3:18)

6. Jesus lives to give you life

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.’” (John 11:25)

“There is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men … Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5)

“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

7. You must trust in Jesus Christ

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

“There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

It is God’s desire that you know His plan of salvation. Even more than that, it is of vital importance that you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today!
